- A sturdy wooden post or stake driven into the ground
- A shoe or slipper
- A blindfold
HOW TO PLAY
1
Drive the post into the ground and rest the shoe or slipper on top of it as the guarded prize.

Choose one player, the 'monkey,' to guard the post while blindfolded.

Other players creep in from different directions trying to steal the shoe without being tagged.

The guard listens carefully for footsteps and tries to tag any approaching player before they grab the shoe.

A tagged player is out or must take a turn as the next guard, depending on the group's house rule.

If someone manages to snatch the shoe and get it safely away, they win that round and a new guard is chosen.
