HOW TO PLAY
1
Explain that Bahrain's coastal history includes generations of divers gathering pearls from the seabed by holding their breath.
2
Scatter a handful of small objects representing pearls across a table, floor area, or shallow water.
3
On "go," each player holds their breath while quickly and carefully collecting as many pearls as they can with one hand.
4
The moment a player needs to breathe, they must stop collecting immediately.
5
Count each player's haul and compare totals after everyone has gone.
6
Never encourage holding breath underwater for this game; use a dry version if any doubt exists about safety.
