One player opens with a traditional call, such as announcing that a riddle is about to be told.

The rest of the group answers with the expected response, showing they are ready to listen.

The riddle-teller poses a short puzzling question or wordplay riddle to the group.

Players call out guesses until someone lands on the accepted answer, or the teller reveals it.

The player who solved it (or a new volunteer) takes over as the next riddle-teller, and the exchange continues.
