Al-Ayyala

Performers split into two rows facing each other, each holding a thin cane.

Both rows chant a call-and-response verse while swaying the canes side to side in time with the drums.

On cue, each row takes turns stepping forward and gently tapping canes together with the row opposite.

Dancers between the rows may spin or toss their cane briefly to add flair.

The dance closes with both rows raising their canes together on a final drumbeat.
