Two players face each other, raise their joined hands to form an arch, and quietly agree on secret roles like two fruits or colors.

The remaining players line up and pass one by one under the raised arms while a call-and-response chant is sung between the arch and the line.

At the end of the chant the arch players lower their arms to catch whichever player happens to be passing through.

The caught player is asked in secret which of the two hidden roles they choose, then quietly joins the side matching their pick.

Continue the chant and catching until every player has been sorted into one of the two sides, then the sides can have a friendly tug of war.
